Under the influence of the sophisticated experience and skills of traditional Japanese Arita craftsmen, 1616 / Arita Japan was initiated by the designer and creative director Teruhiro Yanagihara in 2012. All porcelain from 1616 / Arita Japan is made with crushed stone from the town of Arita, where ceramic manufacture was established 400 years ago.
The brand introduces contemporary products that can be used daily, though made with the extraordinary workmanship, delicacy and strength of original Arita ware. The simple yet modern collection of tableware showcases TY’s ‘borderless’ notion in pottery creation.
